Hey, what’s up guys? Nick from Fit futures here with yet another answer to get another question.
Today’s question is ‘do I have to be in a calorie deficit in order to get lean?’ While a lot of people do opt for a calorie deficit, there is a slightly slower way that you can do things if your goal is to build muscle mass or lean muscle while simultaneously dropping fat.
One way to do it as suggested by some researchers from the states is to eat at maintenance calories. So that means; what you’re consuming is what you are expending and just increase the protein intake. They say roughly one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight is ideal and then obviously you combine that with some nice sound resistance training and over time you should see yourself lean out.
Their recommendation is to do it for months on end until you get sick of how lean you are and you want to go into a surplus and build some more muscle mass.
So there it is guys, if you like that answer to that question there’s plenty more where that came from.
I’ll catch you next time
