Hey what’s up guys. It’s Nick from Fit Futures here with yet another answer to yet another question.

This week’s question is; ‘Nick how important is strength’. Now, I often get asked this because I feel that people don’t want to perform resistance training. Probably because of the misconception that it can be a little dangerous. Well in the words of the great Bret Contreras ‘if you think lifting weights is dangerous try being weak, because being weak is dangerous. Why? being strong underpins everything we do both athletically and just in everyday life. You want to pick up the groceries and carry them in all in one go, that requires strength. You want to climb a flight of stairs, guess what we’re expressing force to climb that flight of stairs that means strength is important for that too, and of course if you want to pick up a child, especially one that doesn’t want to be picked up, that also requires strength.

Guys strength is ridiculously important. We need to be able to express force to overcome the your inertial properties of various objects. Newton’s first law of motion of course.

So go and lift some weights guys and if you like that I’ve got plenty more where that came from, so I’ll catch you next time.
