Hey what’s up guys, it’s your main man Nick here with yet another answer to yet another question.

Today’s question posed is ‘Nick I’ve got a buddy who says I should be doing pistol squats as opposed to back squats and that’s how I’m gonna get strong and big, is this true?’. Not necessarily. Pistol squats are a great exercise but they are extremely challenging and if you don’t have the capacity to tolerate the activity then unfortunately you’re not going to get much joy out of it. Simplicity is often difficult to promote in this industry for some reason but simplicity is also said to be the ultimate sophistication. So what do I mean by simplicity; typically with strengths and high strength and hyperbole related goals, we’re looking at the big rocks. We’re talking squats, we’re talking bench press, we’re talking bent over owing, military press all these things that are staples of many resistance training programs. They are simple, so they’re not always the fancy terms going around gyms. Not always the fancy exercises but add those into your programs and stick to them. Over time that is when you can throw in the other stuff and the variety.

I’ll catch you guys next time.
