What’s up guys, Nick from Fit College. Want a tip? I’ve got one for you.  Are you looking for a way to recover really quickly after a competitive match or a really intense training session? First things first; we need to look at why we actually need to recover. Well after a rugby game for example, we’ve depleted our muscle glycogen stores and also we are playing our games a lot later in the day now with a lot of sports teams locally playing their games fairly late in the day around 7:30,  So sleep quality and sleep duration can also be impaired.

What do I suggest after a game? Try some chocolate milk and some tart cherry juice. The chocolate milk; what that will do is help to restore your muscle glycogen to pre performance levels and accelerate your recovery in that regard.  Whereas, the tart cherry juice has a good melatonin content which will help promote that sleep quality to get a good night’s sleep because we know that’s important for recovery as well.
